About the vendor and its products

Somfy is a large French company delivering a wide range of products for professional buildings and private homes. This also includes products for the smart home, spread across a number of different categories, of which some important ones are:

• TaHoma base station, which represents the brain a Somfy smart home

• Products for sun protection and control of these, split into interior blinds, curtains, roller shutters, external blinds, external screens, and awnings

• Products for controlling garage doors and other types of doors/gates

• Products for lighting, covering various switches and remotes

• Products for security and surveillance, including various sensors, cameras, and alarm components, as well as a smart door lock

• Products for climate control, covering sensors and integration with other products

There is a dedicated TaHoma app to control the various Somfy products.

The TaHoma base station supports several protocols, Z-Wave, RTS, RTD, and Honeywell, and in addition there is support for Amazon Alexa, IFTTT, and Google Assistant via IFTTT, and from December 2020 Apple Home support.

Our experiences

I have no personal experiences with Somfy products, partly because I got tired of waiting for the indicated Apple Home support (which has been long in the making) and thus found another solution.
