Futurehome
About the vendor and its products
Futurehome is a Norwegian company built around smart home solutions. The starting point for their system is a dedicated base station, Smarthub. It has support for Z-Wave and EnOcean radio. There are also two USB ports in the rear making it possible to expand with more protocols, e.g., Zigbee, Bluetooth, Thread, etc.

In 2022, the company Connecte tas mergel into Futurehome and both product lines are now offered in parallel, with some apparent overlap. Key products, primarily based on Zigbee, from Connecte are:
Smart sound, in the form of a speaker
Smart power outlets
Smart thermostats
Smart light switches/relays
There is also a Futurehome app to control the system. There is no support for any of the other smart home platforms, probably since Futurehome itself aims to be such a platform, but there is official support for many brand names. Also for the Connecte products, there is a dedicated app, but the Zigbee products can also be connected to and controlled through the Futurehome system or Homey, which also has an official app for Connecte.

Connecte smart power outlet |
This smart power outlet was acquired to replace a smart plug that protruded quite much and was a bit in the way. It is not natively compatible with Apple Home, but works with Homey and from there, the Homekitty app takes it into Apple Home. It works very well, and it was extra useful that only one of the two outlets is smart, since we only need to replace one smart plug, with the other outlet working as a regular “dumb” one. |
