HomeControl/Wattle
About the vendor and its products
HomeControl is a Norwegian company that has been developing and delivering smart home solutions since 2003. Like many other vendors, HomeControl not only provides individual components, but its own ecosystem built around a base station. In Norway, the products are marketed under the brand name of HomeControl, but elsewhere the name Wattle (which has later been renamed to Heimgard) is used and this is also where the products are presented. Some relevant products are:
Base stations in different versions; Premium Gateway, Multigateway, and kits including a gateway and select other components
Smart power outlets, in the form of a more traditional smart plug, a smart power cable, and even a smart outlet to replace the in-wall outlet
Several types of sensors, including motion, door/window, humidity, and flood
Home security components; smoke alarm, siren, and doorlock
The HomeControl/Wattle products are controlled using a dedicated Heimgard app. HomeControl supports a wide range of brands/protocols, like Phillips Hue, Osram Lightify and Sonos, as well as standards like Zigbee, Z-Wave, WMBus, BLE, and WiFi.
Our experiences
I have no personal experiences with any of these products, but I am especially fascinated by the in-wall outlets, allowing replacing traditional outlets with smart versions.
