About the vendor and its products
Heatmiser is a UK-based supplier of a broad range of products for climate control based on different types of technology. Certainly not all of the produces are “smart”, but Heatmiser also offers many devices that fit nicely into a smart home, e.g.:
Thermostats, where the Neo line is the one I have looked at since it is most suitable for Norwegian conditions, where underfloor-heating is quite common (it is this line that is compatible with Apple Home, which requires also installing a neoHub, and Google Assistant)
There are also other wireless thermostats that cannot be integrated into other ecosystems, but still remotely operated from an app
Furthermore, Heatmiser offers some other smart home devices, including a neoPlug smart plug as well as a door/window sensor and wireless room sensor (both of the latter can be paired with selected smart thermostats to achieve even additionally smart control of them)
The Heatmiser products can be controlled using their own Heatmiser Neo-app or Apple Home/Google Assistant.
Our experiences
We have gone with smart thermostats from heatmiser throughout the house and are well pleased with these, see details below.
Notice that on phones, the table might only display in landscape mode
Component | Room | Experiences |
---|---|---|
neoHub base station |
The base station handles communication with the thermostats and in reality, you are only “dealing” with it at the initial installation, which is easy to do. In the beginning, it had to be restarted a couple of times, but it has now worked without any problems for about two years. |

neoStat-e smart thermostat x 5 |
Conservatory, upstairs bathroom, hallway, outer hallway, and downstairs bathroom | We mostly have positive experiences with these thermostats. They are quite good-looking, especially compared to some of the old ones we had, they fit into the wall boxes we use here, and they are very reliable. Setting up heating profiles in fairly easy to do in the Heatmiser app and the integration with Apple Home makes it easy to get temperature readings from the thermostats, which can then be used to control other devices. Quite disappointing, however, that one of them broke after only about three years and had to be replaced. |
Wireless Air Sensor x 2 |
Upstairs bathroom and conservatory | This is a small and elegant sensor that can easily be placed in spots where it won't be that visible, but still provides correct measurements. If you don't have a floor sensor, this therefore solves a problem, especially if the thermostat is located on the outside of the room where the floor heating is. Connecting it to the thermostat in the Heatmiser app was also very easy. |
