About the vendor and its products

ELKO is a Norwegian company known primarily for “traditional” electrical installation materials, but they also provide selected smart house products as well as their own ELKO Smart Home system. I have not been able to find an English version of their homepage so it doesn’t make much sense to present their products in any detail. Suffice to say that ELKO’s smart home system is built around a base station, ELKO Smarthub, which supports various components:

• Switches/dimmers

• Thermostats

• Smart plug, smarte relays and smart power outlets

• Various sensors

• Smart camera

There is also an Elko Smart Home app and there is also a Homey app.

Our experiences

Personally, we had for some time an RS/PIR2300 universal -180 PH motion sensor to turn on/off the ceiling lights in the laundry room. This did what it was supposed to do, but it was not online in any way and had to be hardwired to the light fixture (it has now been replaced by a smart switch from Aqara).
