Onvis

About the vendor and its products

Onvis Is an example of a company that has "come out of nowhere" to offer smart home products and which made it onto my radar since the products are compatible with Apple Home, which I try to stay up to date about. It is, however, difficult to figure out where the company is from (indications are China) and it seems it might be the type of company that previously undertook manufacturing for other brand names, but now has launched its own products. I would normally recommend some caution toward such companies and their products, but I am partly relieved due to the Apple Home certification and partly by fairly positive test reviews.

Onvis offers (at least per now) three products:

• Motion sensors, which also temperature and humidity

• Door/window sensors, Security Alarm Contact Sensor, which is a little different than most alternative in that in addition to detecting open/closed status, it also measures temperatur/humidity (which some others also do) as well as has a built-in siren, and a more traditional contact sensor

• Smart plug, EU Smart Plug, for EU plugs, with energy monitoring

• Smart switch, a wireless switch for activating scene

• Indoor security camera, which supports HomeKit Secure Video

The sensors are based on Bluetooth communication and seem to only have support for Apple Home. There is also an Onvis app.
