About the vendor and its products

Yale (opens in a new window) is a large player within locks and security-related products. When it comes to smart home products, Yale is probably best known for its smart door lock, Yale Doorman. It can be operated with a code and/or a key tag, but also has room for modules that integrate the lock into other platforms. This applies, for example, to Verisure, which has its own lock module for Doorman.

When it comes to products relevant for smart homes, these are the most relevant ones:

The products are controlled using a Yale Smart Home App (opens in a new window), but some are also compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, and Samsung SmartThings. For remote control of Doorman, you depend on the app from the supplier of the lock module.

Our experiences

Component Room Experiences
Yale Doorman smart door lock Uninstalled This lock worked OK, but Yale never provided any support for any of the smart home platforms we have. When we tried to get automatic unlocking by buying a Yale base station, we just had to give up since it was incapable of staying connected.
