About the vendor and its products

Nest (opens in a new window), which is owned by Google, started out producing a smart thermostat. Gradually, the product offerings have expanded with a number of smart home categories (and lately, the nest brand has been integrated into the Google branding). The Nest products are controlled from a dedicated Nest app (opens in a new window) and are otherwise compatible with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and IFTTT, but not Apple Home (there is, however, a product, Starling Home Hub (opens in a new window), which gives Apple Home support, in practice via a device that implements Homebridge-plugin for Nest (opens in a new window)).
