Additional security cameras
I do consider installing more camera, to know who is at home (as many cameras have face recognition), check if something is happening when we are away from home, see what the pets are up to, etc. One specific application area that I have tried, but not been able to solve, is to train a camera on the washing machine and tumble dryer to be able to remotely see the time remaining of the programs running.
Better integration of the Ring doorbell (or a more compatible doorbell)
So far, the integration of the Ring doorbell into the HomeKit system is at best passable. We are therefore hoping for either native integration from Ring or another model (new ones were announced at CES 2019).
Smart gardening
This is possibly the area with the largest potential. A HomeKit compatible smart water control unit has been launched; Eve Aqua, that seems interesting, and there are other products that measure soil quality/moisture. We also have a green house where some smart heating can be of interest during the winter/spring.
Smart shower/toilet/etc.
From travels to Japan, UK, etc. we know that there are solutions for digital control of shower water temperature, highly advanced toilets, Philips Hue launched a smart mirror, etc. There are many signs that the bathroom is going to get smarter, so time will show what solutions can be relevant to look into.
